Sampling
What is a 1m sampling strike off?

A strike off is a 1-metre test print that lets you check your artwork, colours and fabric choice before committing to a full run. To get the most value from it, pack the file with options – colour chips of every key colour, plus variations in saturation, contrast and scale. This saves you the time and cost of resampling.

How should I set up my file?

Set your canvas to 136cm wide (our full fabric width) by 100cm high – widths vary by fabric, so double-check against our fabric list. Keep your resolution at 300dpi or above. TIFF is our preferred format, though Photoshop files are also accepted.

How long does a 1m strike off take?

Around one week from receiving your test file to printing it on your chosen fabric.

How do I send you my files?

Upload them with the Start a Project form – or ask us and we'll send you a file transfer link for larger files.

How can I match my colours?

Our monitors are calibrated to our printer, but we can't account for how your screen displays colour – a bright screen can make artwork look more vivid than it really is, and a dark screen the opposite. We print your design exactly as supplied unless you ask us to adjust it. That's why we recommend including plenty of colour chips on your strike off, giving you a range of options to match against.

What printing software do you use?

We prepare and send files to print using a RIP programme called Wasatch.

What colour profile do you work in?

We work in RGB, so create and save your artwork in that profile. Colours can shift slightly when files move into Wasatch, which is another reason to load your strike off with colour chips – it acts as a mini colour book with backup options.

Can you offer a full colour book?

We can, but since you'll be editing, separating and finalising your own artwork, it's more accurate and cost-effective to print your colour choices directly on your strike off. That keeps colour management in your hands and minimises inconsistencies.

Anything to keep in mind for the final print run?

Once you've reviewed your strike off and chosen the files, colourways and edits to move forward with, make sure your production files are created and saved exactly the same way as your sampling file – this avoids colour issues. Your strike off should also be printed on the same fabric you intend to use for production.

Fabric Printing
What is your lead time for fabric printing?

Typically around one week to process and print your artwork onto your chosen fabric. Larger orders can take a little longer, but our turnaround is fast.

Will colours print differently on different fabrics?

All our fabrics use the same ink set, so colours stay fairly consistent. That said, slight shifts can occur between very different bases – a heavy cotton holds ink differently to a shiny silk.

What inks do you use?

Water-based Epson inks with OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certification – no harmful chemicals.

What technique and machine do you print with?

Everything is digital, printed direct-to-textile on our state-of-the-art Epson Monna Lisa Evo Tre. It prints at 1200dpi with 16 ink heads and holds an Eco Passport certification for sustainability.

Are there any additional charges?

Beyond the per-metre prices on our fabric list, there's a roll-on fee and a setup fee. The roll-on fee (applied per fabric) covers the plain fabric that must run through the machine before and after your print. The setup fee (per file) covers file preparation and sending to RIP – repeat orders with the same files don't pay it again. Other than VAT and delivery, that's everything.

How does your pricing work?

Fabric list prices include both fabric and printing, shown per metre. A fabric printing invoice will include the roll-on fee, setup fee, price per metre multiplied by your meterage, VAT and delivery.

What is your delivery fee?

All orders ship with DHL. Fabric rolls go next-day; lighter parcels like strike offs cost less. Your quote will confirm the exact delivery cost. If you'd rather use your own courier, just send us the shipping labels and paperwork to attach to your roll.

Can you print onto supplied fabric?

We generally advise against it – our stocked fabrics are tried and tested with specific machine and ink settings, and unknown fabric carries real risk. That said, if you can meet our 36m minimum for this service (uncoated fabric only), we may consider it. Get in touch, as it depends on the fabric's composition, and we'll need to see a sample before agreeing to the order.

Do you offer duplex printing?

No – we can't print the reverse side of the fabric. However, we print with a lot of ink, so on lighter-weight fabrics some ink naturally pushes through to the other side.

Do you offer sustainable fabrics?

Yes – a full range, from GOTS certified organic cottons to OEKO-Tex certified plant-based fabrics. We stock organic poplin, organic satin, organic canvas, eco twill, eco satin, viscoses, tencels, rayons and bamboos.

Can you print metallic or neon colours?

Not exactly, but you can get close. Pairing the right yellow tone with a shiny fabric like satin creates a golden effect – the same trick works with grey for silver or brown for bronze. Our ink set is very vibrant, so with the right tone choices, near-neon colours are achievable.

Studios & Freelancers
What is this service and who is it for?

It's designed for textile studios, freelancers and anyone ordering print regularly. We offer a more competitive set rate per metre.

How do I set up an account?

Contact us to set up your account and discuss rates.

Do I qualify for the discounted rate?

You'll need to be working for a textile studio and meet a minimum order of 5m.

Which fabrics can I use?

Your discounted rate applies across most of our stocked fabrics. Heavy silks (19mm and above) are exempt and carry a slightly higher rate. Any questions, just get in touch.

Scarf Manufacturing
What is your MOQ for scarf manufacturing?

25 units, and you can mix sizes and artworks within that quantity.

What are the best fabrics for scarves?

For a matte finish, choose crepe de chine or silk twill – twill if you like a more textural, visible weave. For sheen, go with crepe back satin. If your artwork has borders, stick with CDC or twill: their straight warp and weft let us cut perfectly straight scarves, and a border acts like a ruler, making any deviation obvious once hemmed. For something softer, our cashmere modal works beautifully for larger scarves.

Can I produce sustainable scarves?

Absolutely – we offer a wide selection of organic and sustainable bases.

What is your lead time for scarf manufacturing?

Around 4 weeks from approval – covering cloth preparation, printing, cutting, hemming and dispatch. It varies with order size but should never exceed 4–5 weeks.

What is the 10% fault rate for scarf orders?

It applies to panelled (rather than repeat) artworks. If a fault lands on a panel, the whole panel must be discarded – unlike a repeat print, where small faults can simply be cut around. So we print 10% extra to cover potential faults. If your run comes out perfect, you receive all the extra panels or finished units.

What seam allowance should I leave for panels?

Add 1.5cm to each edge – so a 90cm x 90cm scarf becomes a 93cm x 93cm panel. This ensures the finished scarf measures a full 90cm x 90cm.

Accessory Manufacturing
What accessories can you produce?

Face masks, eye masks, twillies and more – across a range of styles. Get in touch to discuss your accessory ideas or requirements.

What are your lead times for accessories?

Depends on the order and quantities, but usually around 4 weeks.
